James Reesor (Elijah) was the first person to ever obtain a Tennessee trademark on the famous "MUSIC CITY
USA" phrase. James created a coloring book using the trademark. (ADPRO PRODUCTIONS, INC., located in the Capitol Records building on Music Row). This was the first item sold to fans at the Country Music Hall of Fame during the
year it was opened. After being "railroaded out of town" by insiders who thought
rebuke rather than a civic commendation would be an appropriate reward for
ingenuity, the Nashville elite decided to drop "USA" from the name to avoid paying
royalties for a license. |
The MUSIC CITY USA and MCUSA trademarks will expire in 2008 unless renewed. |

With the State Capitol at the precise center, a super roadway would have been designed
to circle Nashville. This idea conceived by Elijah would have been a wonderful
solution to traffic requirements for the future. This seven-county project
would have required legal research before beginning, land surveys, engineering
specifications, contractor estimates, economic development concepts and billions
of dollars in funding arrangements. A feasibility study under guidance by the Governor and Nashville mayor would have been the first step. |
